Please HELP!!! How to decipher Crochet patterns?

You had to have had another row of instructions before this one, like chain and then it gave a number. What you have is make 2 single chains in the first single chain, chain one, single chain in nest single chain and in each single chain across to the last 2 single chain, chain one skip next single chain, 2 single in last single chain. Your next line does not make any sense unless there is more to it.
