Spirit knocks, what do they mean?what causes them?

awoke to hear 3 soft slow knocks like they came from a loving spirit.i just went back to sleep but i had some unusual dream images not a plesant feeling, a helicopter and chaos. my mind was whirling with unusual imagery.
